A New Animated Short Film in the works

At RealSketch Animation, every new project is a creative leap. This time, we’re channeling everything we’ve learned into a fresh animated short — a fast-paced comedy set inside the chaotic world of a local TV newsroom.

If you’ve been following RealSketch Animation for a while, you might remember a little animated sketch comedy series called News at 5ish — a local newsroom where the team behind the desk was often more dysfunctional than the stories they covered. The production and the writing both had some rough edges, but the heart of the concept still holds up.

So What’s Happening Now?

We’re taking that energy — the chaotic newsroom, the awkward banter, the absurd sense of humor — and channeling it into a brand-new short film. This isn’t a reboot. It’s a reinvention. A sort of.. successor. A standalone story that borrows from one of our early projects, built using everything we’ve learned since.

This new short aims to better represent the visual quality, tone, and creative identity of RealSketch Animation in 2025 and beyond.

The Journey Is in the Content

This production isn’t just about dropping a polished short film and calling it a day. It’s about sharing every step of the ride — from first sketches to final renders. We’re opening the doors to the full behind-the-scenes process: storyboarding, animatics, modeling, shading, character design, animation, and more — all documented in bite-sized content across YouTube and this website.

At the same time, this short is our internal testbed for streamlining our creative workflow. We’ll be experimenting with tools like Character Creator for design, iClone for early animation, Blender for modeling and rendering, and AI-powered tools for motion capture and lip sync. Some of these tools may stick. Others might not. This film is how we find out.

It’s Not Just a Cartoon. It’s the Story of Creativity.

This isn’t a studio-backed, six-figure production. It’s a solo-built, artist-led film created with real tools, real trial-and-error, and real creative grit. It’s part comedy, part experiment, and part love letter to the production process itself.
